Summary

This is a book on how to deal with people, how to understand and inspire them。 How to be a good team-mate, leader or how to deal with clients。 Some of the ideas presented may seem obvious - although still important -, others not so much。And even the one's one may already know, we still get so much on them, since Carnegie explains exactly why they work and why they are important。 The book is presented in a light and fun way, with short chapters for maximum absorption of what is being read, which This is a book on how to deal with people, how to understand and inspire them。 How to be a good team-mate, leader or how to deal with clients。 Some of the ideas presented may seem obvious - although still important -, others not so much。And even the one's one may already know, we still get so much on them, since Carnegie explains exactly why they work and why they are important。 The book is presented in a light and fun way, with short chapters for maximum absorption of what is being read, which is appreciated for this type of book。 。。。more

Despite being originally written in 1936 with sometimes outdated language/anecdotes (and oh - are there a lot of peppy anecdotes!), the overarching principles can still be applied today。 I agree with others that satisfying relationships do require some level of self-expression and are not always focused on solely stroking the egos of others, but I think applying even a few of his principles to daily interactions would make the world a more pleasant place :)

Pomimo że książka została wydana już wiele lat temu, to wciąż jest aktualna。 Każdy znajdzie coś dla siebie, nawet jeśli nie wszystkie zasady i przykłady będą w 100% adekwatne。

I loved the book, it has highlighted different behavioral traits of successful people。 I notice it every day and I have implemented many of the tips that Dale Carnegie has provided in the novel。 However, as other comments have said it is easy to use the tips and become more susceptible to manipulation or being walked over。 Nevertheless, I loved reading the book and would recommend it to anyone!

I don't think this is a read once type of book, I highlighted and marked pages to review and study。 The book not only teaches principles but also provides real world examples from multiple industries and perspectives。 I'd recommended this to anyone who really wants to win a room and become memorable in ways people can't understand or explain。 These principles have stood the test of time and will definitely continue to do so。 I don't think this is a read once type of book, I highlighted and marked pages to review and study。 The book not only teaches principles but also provides real world examples from multiple industries and perspectives。 I'd recommended this to anyone who really wants to win a room and become memorable in ways people can't understand or explain。 These principles have stood the test of time and will definitely continue to do so。 。。。more

Didn't agree with all the ideas and "advices" presented, but damn son, for a book written in 1936, this feels very actual and it definitely kicks ass on all those modern self-help junk you find all over the place! Also, yes, I started reading it after seeing Fargo's Season 4 Finale and if you're into the TV series or movie, it will help you understand the character development and mindset since a few of them 100% follow some of the principles presented in the book!

*3。5/5 StarsThis wasn’t bad! It was interesting enough, and I liked the real life anecdotes & stories included。 Some of the chapters did get tedious, so it was a bit boring at times。 There were also “lessons” in this book that were kind of obvious, and I’m probably not going to apply much of it in my life, but it was a decent way to spend my weekend!

Best book of Relationship and communication

I'll start by saying, it's worth the read if you're in sales or management。 I'm a little torn on this review。 There is a lot of good info in this book。 However, it is nothing new or profound that is not found in so many other books。 Being that this book was written in the middle of the 20th century, it likely was an influence for many of those books。 The principles are simple and good reminders for those times when we find ourselves in a rut。This book is also a bit dangerous。 Since it is an olde I'll start by saying, it's worth the read if you're in sales or management。 I'm a little torn on this review。 There is a lot of good info in this book。 However, it is nothing new or profound that is not found in so many other books。 Being that this book was written in the middle of the 20th century, it likely was an influence for many of those books。 The principles are simple and good reminders for those times when we find ourselves in a rut。This book is also a bit dangerous。 Since it is an older book, some people may read it and put the "used car salesman" spin to it。 The piece that Dale Carnegie does say, but needs to be emphasized, the principles outlined in this book HAVE to be sincere。 If not, 1 of 2 outcomes will occur: People will see through your BS and not like you; or, they will buy what you're "selling" (whatever that may be) but will inevitably have buyer's remorse because they'll feel you manipulated them。Lastly, this book needs to be read in the communications。 One thing Carnegie does not stress is that people using these tactics still ask for what they want (which can be read in his example conversations)。 It can be easy to read this book and think your new "job" is to make everyone happy。 Not true。 Your job is to be happy, be sympathetic, and find mutually beneficial outcomes to the situation。 Sometimes the best decision, and the one that will earn the most respect, is to politely say "it doesn't look like this is a fit at this time。" Not to roll over and let the other person win。As stated, worth the read。 Just don't expect any "ah-ha" moments。 。。。more

Dale Carnegie's How to Win Friends and Influence People is a classic filled with wisdom and interesting anecdotes that illustrate the topics of each chapter。 It is worth reading at least once, and in all likelihood, if you get through it once, you will want to read it again。 Dale Carnegie's How to Win Friends and Influence People is a classic filled with wisdom and interesting anecdotes that illustrate the topics of each chapter。 It is worth reading at least once, and in all likelihood, if you get through it once, you will want to read it again。 。。。more

Loved all the lessons and the many many stories to back them up。 It was fun to know about what was going through the heads of the people of that time (pre WW2)。 I liked the story lessons about important historical figures such as Lincoln and Roosevelt。 The negative side of the book being that old is that it's harder to relate to some of the stories。 Nevertheless, I will try to model my behavior and the way I interact with people according to most of the lessons in the book Loved all the lessons and the many many stories to back them up。 It was fun to know about what was going through the heads of the people of that time (pre WW2)。 I liked the story lessons about important historical figures such as Lincoln and Roosevelt。 The negative side of the book being that old is that it's harder to relate to some of the stories。 Nevertheless, I will try to model my behavior and the way I interact with people according to most of the lessons in the book 。。。more

The principles laid out in the book are 10/10。 Some are common sense and great reminders, others aren’t so obvious, and will go a long way。 It’s not a 5/5 for me, because the book seems a bit dated。 Most of the people he uses as examples are white men, some in my opinion not so admirable—Napoleon。 If he was more inclusive in his examples, it would be a 5/5, because the content is fantastic。

Deanna Schetselaar

There’s some really good advice in this book despite the pretentious title。 I would benefit from annually looking over and applying the principles in this book。 Carnegie uses entertaining stories from a time less known that engaged me and taught me memorable lessons。

This book is very understandable and practical。 Many examples and stories are illustrated to convey the ideas。 I recommend this book to those who possess eidetic memories since many situations are pictured, where pragmatic approaches are used in real world, and this fact makes them unforgettable。
